IWRUA stands for “Irrigation Water Resources Users Association”. This is an association of irrigation water resource users within the irrigation scheme and other stakeholders who are formally and voluntarily associated for the purposes of cooperatively sharing the Tana River common water resource. The IWRUAs carry out specific tasks within the irrigation scheme such as promotion of catchment conservation, monitoring water use and scheduling, conflict resolution and providing information and capacity building on water use and management.
