AWARENESS SESSION ON AGROFORESTRY AND WATER USERS’ ASSOCIATION IN LOWER TANA RIVER, KENYA

Lower Tana River, Kenya will host the Dissemination Event and Awareness Sessions Meeting for Farmers and Local Actors, on 18th of July 2023.

Organized by the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KARLO) in collaboration with the Association for Strengthening Agricultural Research in Eastern and Central Africa (ASARECA), this gathering aims to shed light on the best Management Practices (BMPs) selected for this study area, specifically the Water Users’ Association and Agroforestry.

The event intends to be a platform for knowledge sharing, networking, and empowerment for farmers and local actors in Lower Tana River. With a focus on sustainable development and agricultural innovation, participants will have the opportunity to learn about techniques and approaches that can improve their farming practices.

Attendees will gain insights into effective strategies for utilizing and conserving water resources, enhancing irrigation systems, and optimizing water usage for improved crop yield. This knowledge will equip farmers with the tools needed to mitigate water scarcity challenges and adapt to changing climatic conditions. Moreover, the event will explore the significance of agroforestry in sustainable farming practices. Agroforestry, the integration of trees and shrubs into agricultural systems, offers numerous benefits such as soil conservation, enhanced biodiversity, and increased farm productivity.

The Dissemination Event and Awareness Sessions Meeting is a unique opportunity to interact with experts, researchers, and fellow farmers who share a common goal of transforming agriculture in the region.
